The Cannabis Cup is an annual competition held in Amsterdam to showcase the best strains of cannabis and marijuana strains currently available. The cup is much more than a judging competition, it presents a great opportunity for smokers, growers and enthusiasts of cannabis to meet, smoke and discuss current issues involving cannabis and marijuana. Enthusiasts are able to purchase a judging pass enabling them to participate in the judging. The Cannabis Cup has several categories including overall best strain, best sativa strain, best indica strain and best hash variety. There are also categories for best coffee shop, best general cannabis product and a bong related category. The cup has been held in Holland for the past 18 years, usually in the month of November. Over the last 10 years, it has grown more and more in popularity. In the early years it was a much smaller affair.
